Veterans Small Business Week at Five Points West Library
The U.S. Small Business Administration's Fifth Annual National Veterans Small Business Week is scheduled November 5–9, 2018. The Five Points West Regional Branch Library has scheduled its own programs November 7–9 to assist veterans with the technical aspects of starting a business online, teach them about the many resources available, how to market themselves and their business through social media, and more.
The workshops are free but registration is required. Register online through the BPL events calendar or call the Five Points West Library Information Desk at 205-226-4015.
Tech Day, November 7, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Schedule one-on-one time and attend classes with a tech to learn how to create websites and use apps to enhance and grow your business. To schedule one-on-one 45-minute sessions throughout the day, contact the Information Desk at 205-226-4015 for available times.

Entrepreneur Workshops, November 8, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
At these workshop you will hear from veterans who are successful entrepreneurs and learn how to enhance your workplace and marketing skills.

Learn about the resources SCORE Birmingham provides for growing businesses, followed by Q&A. Presenter: Alim Johnson is the director of development for SCORE Birmingham, an organization dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and providing free business counseling.
1:45 p.m. – Marketing Your Business in Birmingham
2:45 p.m. – Deep Dive: Social Media Marketing
Presenter: Chasiti Shepherd, of BGrace Media, will be providing two marketing presentations. She is a rising star in the transcultural and African American consumer marketing industry and very well known in the Five Points West community.
Resource Fair, 11/9 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Attend this celebration of veterans and learn about many of the resources available to you. Professional photos will be taken to use for online marketing. Snacks and swag will be provided.
