Join the BPL for Story Time at Hoots & Howls this Halloween weekend

Looks like a howlin' good time.

By Chelsea Rodriguez | Librarian Ⅰ, North Birmingham Regional Branch Library

The Birmingham Public Library's (BPL) North Birmingham Regional Branch Library is partnering with the Birmingham Zoo during October 2021 for their daytime Halloween event, Hoots & Howls!

And it is the last weekend to catch Hoots & Howls at the Birmingham Zoo.

Full house at Story Time at Hoots & Howls.

At this daytime Halloween event, you can:

  • take your kids trick-or-treating throughout the zoo on the Candy Trail
  • go on a wild ride on the Haunted Red Diamond Express Train
  • enjoy a spin on the Protective Life Corporation Cobweb Carousel
  • meet and greet with special guests for plenty of fun photo opportunities

Participants are encouraged to celebrate the happy haunts by wearing their favorite costumes.

Smiles like these can brighten any day.

Chelsea Rodriguez, a Librarian Ⅰ at North Birmingham Library, reads for story time at the Hoots & Howls Halloween celebration. Angela Brooks, a Story Teller and Library Assistant Ⅲ at Springville Road Regional Branch Library, also helps bring stories to life at Hoots & Howls.

During story time, they pass out grab-n-go crafts, and all attendees can check out a book or sign up for a library card at the event.

Story time with the BPL will happen this weekend, Saturday, October 31—Sunday, October 31, at these times:

  • 10:30 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m.

Find the BPL and Chelsea in the Birmingham Zoo at the Chipangali Research Station in the Trails of Africa.

Stop by for a good story and grab-n-go craft.

Hoots & Howls is fun for the whole family, and this wicked experience can entertain children of all ages. For more information, visit the Birmingham Zoo's Hoots & Howls page to find ticket prices, itineraries, and more.
