Join us for our April Bards & Brews Slam on...Thursday, March 31!

Yes, our April Bards & Brews is actually in March. Happy (early) April Fools from the Birmingham Public Library (BPL)!

  • When: Thursday, March 31 | From 7:00—9:00 p.m. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Cahaba Brewing Company | 4500 5ht Ave S, Bldg. C, Birmingham, AL 35222
  • Details: 10 talented spoken word artists will compete for $350 in cash prizes ($200 1st place, $100 2nd place, and $50 3rd place) in the Birmingham Public Library's Bards & Brews "April Fools' Slam." On-site registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and spoken word performances are from 7:00—9:00 p.m. A $5 registration fee is required for participating poets. Free Admission. Must be 18 or older to attend and 21 or older to drink beer. Cahaba Brewing Company is hosting Bards & Brews and beer is available for purchase in their taproom. Hear original spoken word poetry live at Bards & Brews' second poetry slam of 2022!

10 talented poets will compete in a poetry competition to win $350 in cash prizes. Volunteer judges from the audience decide who advances to the next round and who the winners will be. The rest of the audience has the power to sway the judges' opinions, changing their favor for the poets. 

There are no fools at this poetry slam!

Bards & Brews "April Fools' Slam" is on Thursday, March 31, from 7:00—9:00 p.m. at Cahaba Brewing Company. They are hosting Bards & Brews and beers are available for purchase in their taproom. 

Cahaba Brewing Company is a local microbrewery founded by friends and a love for craft beer. Located inside the Historical Continental Gin Complex in East Avondale, they offer over 26 taps with special brews you can only get from their taproom. 

Registration to compete in the slam starts at 6:30 p.m. on-site at Cahaba Brewing Company. You must be 18+ to participate with proof of I.D. and pay the $5 registration fee. Only the first 10 poets to register may compete in the slam.
