Or perhaps you have just a germ of an idea and you want to begin to flesh it out for your own edification, so you’ll know how to best proceed going forward. Either way, you need to put together a business concept statement.
Not as in-depth as a full-blown business plan, a business concept statement is a written document that usually consists of between one to three paragraphs and which includes the following:
* A description of your product or service
* A definition of your customer
* Identification of the unmet need that your product or service addresses
* Justification of why your product or service is better than that of the competition
* Explanation of the value and benefits this will provide to your customer
* Ways you will market and promote your new business
* Financial information and how to get started
Does this sound like something you want to learn more about? If so, plan on attending the March 28 SCORE Simple Steps to Starting Your Business workshop at the Birmingham Public Library’s Central Location.
Workshop presenters will be veteran small business mentors from SCORE Alabama.
