Hugh Hardy, author of Maysa Brown: A World in Turmoil

In September 2018, Hugh Hardy Jr. penned his first novel, Maysa Brown: Rise to Power, the story of a young woman's unlikely assent from unknown college student to become the United States' first female president.

After spending a year writing, Hardy has self-published a follow-up book in the series, Maysa Brown: A World in Turmoil. The new novel follows Maysa’s continued journey as president. Her character was introduced to the world in the debut novel as Maysa Brown rose from being a brilliant college student in Alabama to becoming the first black female president.

In A World in Turmoil, Maysa Brown and the college professor she loves, Michael Green, continue on their path to try to make the world a better place, with evil always just around the corner.

Hardy will discuss his new novel during a book signing as one of the participants in the Birmingham Public Library's 2019 Local Authors Expo  on Saturday, November, 2, 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Five Points West Regional Branch Library. Maysa Brown: A World in Turmoil chronicles the continued tribulations of the main character, Maysa, as she continues to reshape the country and the world making it a better place for everyone. The novel is full of twists and turns as she encounters an adversary trying to overturn the apple cart in President Nasser of Syria.

Nasser is slowly destroying the Middle East one country at a time and creating total chaos. Losing the love of his life creates a void that he fills with a need for power and hate. It slowly boils over out of the Middle East and touches American soil. Lives change and the gloves come off.

The book is a thriller about Maysa and Michael’s journey through her presidency and the turmoil that is associated with it. The journey continues at a fast pace and lives get changed, but together Maysa and Michael get stronger.

Hardy is already working on book three in the series as new paths are revealed.
