Come meet Carla Youngblood, author of Cancer Ain't Funny! Laugh Anyway, November 2 at the BPL Local Authors Expo.
Youngblood has been making people laugh from the time she could talk. Being the baby of five children, making her family laugh was the only way she could get some attention.

This created a desire to be on stage. As an adult, she put those comedy aspirations on hold and took a detour to become a CPA (certified public accountant) because she had a baby to feed. Once he was grown and gone, Youngblood could afford to miss a meal or two and resumed her dreams of becoming a professional comedienne.

As Youngblood was preparing to take the world by storm with her comedy, her world came to a stand-still when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2015. After surviving chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiation, inspiring others became her new mission. Youngblood began to share her journey with cancer and everyday life situations through telling energetic stories with honesty and quick wit via comedy and motivational speaking.

Youngblood has been featured on television, newspapers and magazines over 30 times across the country, including Birmingham, Atlanta, Columbus, Miss., and Winner, South Dakota. She also appeared on the nationally syndicated radio program The Tom Joyner Morning Show.

Youngblood’s latest accomplishment is completion of her debut book: Cancer Ain’t Funny! Laugh Anyway… released on October 4, 2019.  The book is her journey about how she survived breast cancer with the joy of laughter.

Currently, Youngblood is traveling throughout the United States, giving motivational speeches about “Adversities of Life” and performing her one-woman show “The Truth about Breast Cancer.” Youngblood said it brings her joy to encourage others by sharing stories about other real-life issues while promoting her book.

Her goal is to make millions of people laugh including you! For more information about Carla Youngblood, her book and comedy bookings, click here
