Passport Fair, Frazine Taylor talk on Census research Saturday at Central Library

The BPL Passport Fair is Saturday, October 5, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Central Library is hosting two free events in the Linn-Henley Research Library Saturday, Oct. 5: a free passport fair and a workshop by Frazine Taylor of the Alabama Historical Association on how to use Census Records to research your family tree.

If you are planning to travel abroad this fall, start your passport process by stopping by the Birmingham Public Library Passport Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. It is open to all citizens planning to travel abroad soon and in need of a passport. No appointments are necessary; walk-ins are welcome. Passport photo service will be available. Frazine Taylor of the Alabama Historical Association speaks at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5.

Taylor will present a workshop, Getting the most out of the Census: Finding Ancestry Clues in Census Records: 1790-1940. Participants in this workshop will become acquainted with information reported in the Federal Census, and in state population and non-population census records.
