Gordon is a pastor, business executive, husband, and father. A graduate of the prestigious Citadel Military College, he is a highly sought after speaker on leadership, public service, human rights, youth mentoring and community engagement. Ken and his wife, Leslie, live in Hoover, Ala. Gordon is founding pastor of The House of Light Church, a nondenominational church located in downtown Birmingham in the Dannon Building, 2324 5th Ave. North.
Gordon was inspired to write Divorced But Still Dad- Faith Principles of Fatherhood for Divorced Men after struggling through a divorce and searching for a way to stay connected to his children. He wanted to find a way to go through the divorce process that honored his children, his commitment to God and even his commitment to his ex-wife.
When he could not find a resource, he wrote one. In this forward-thinking book, Gordon shares faith principles for divorced fathers and places an emphasis on engaged co-parenting, which is critically important for children impacted by divorce.
Sharing his personal spiritual journey, Gordon passionately, and honestly, speaks to fathers by spotlighting the lessons he learned about himself and his children, and why the responsibility of being a dad is extremely important, even after divorce. Every chapter is a collection of powerful biblical and commonsense realities that every man should adopt, whether their marriage has failed or not.
Dr. Gordon also addresses the women and children affected by divorce and provides insight and inspiration to them. Gordon leads a divorce ministry as pastor of House of Light Church in downtown Birmingham. While he counsels couples about divorce, Ken said he also encourages couples to do the work necessary to save a troubled marriage.
Gordon and his wife were featured in a 2018 Birmingham Times spotlight on married couples in which he talked of how even if a marriage fails, something good can come from it in later on in a new relationship.
The couple have lived in metro Birmingham since June 2017. Along with pastoring his church, Gordon is a vice president of global sales and marketing for a Birmingham area biotech company. Read a review of Gordon’s book Divorced But Still Dad by clicking here.
