Library Mourns Loss of Board Member

Mrs. Lillie M. H. Fincher at West End's Grand OpeningIt is with great sadness that we must report a loss to the Birmingham Public Library and the City of Birmingham, Alabama.

Lillie M. H. Fincher, Immediate Past President of the Birmingham Public Library Board, retired educator, historian, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and several other service organizations, devoted church member, loving mother and grandmother, loyal friend whose passion was the preservation of history and Intellectual Freedom transitioned from this life, at her home, on Sunday, June 14, 2009.

The community has lost a person who loved Birmingham and worked extremely hard to preserve the history and make our city a place for all mankind. We will truly miss her presence.
