New BPL Database: The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal is now available to the patrons of the Birmingham Public Library. BPL patrons will need to create an account on the Wall Street Journal website. This allows any profile-specific settings to be maintained and automatically recalled. Each time the user logs in, 3 days of access is provided. After the 3 days, the user must log in again using the same username and password originally created. The 3-day access period then restarts. The user must be a member of the Birmingham Public Library.

A user must provide their library card number and PIN when not in a Birmingham Public Library building. Access is automatic inside any BPL facility. A user account is necessary, though, in either case.

Those without a registration (and library card and PIN when outside of a BPL facility) can only access a snippet of an article before being prompted to subscribe. As a BPL patron, though, you have unlimited access to every article, podcast, and video.

The Wall Street Journal provides the news and analysis you need to make the most of every opportunity with award-winning coverage and in-depth analysis be it politics, business, life and work, real estate, and technology.

Access The Wall Street Journal from anywhere.

To get started (see image below):

  1. Go to the BPL databases page (http://www.cobpl.org/virtual/databases/).
  2. Select the applicable Wall Street Journal version* (inside library or outside library) using one of various options, including Spotlight Resources (center column), Database Quick Links (top of page), or Categories (left column).
  3. Create your account.
  4. Your access will be available for the next 3 days.
  5. At the conclusion of the 3-day period, you may login again.
  6. Login as an existing user with the same username and password you originally created.
