Marshelle Harris is one of the 30 authors participating in our Local Authors Expo this Saturday, November 4, at the Central Library from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Her book Cancer Won't Stop Me offers support and tools for women going through a cancer diagnosis. Harris shares more about what inspired her to write in a Q&A with her and the Birmingham Public Library.

BPL: Please introduce yourself and tell us about your book(s).

MH: My name is Marshelle Harris. Cancer Won't Stop Me is a life giving, supportive, and engaging book that provides support and tools for women going through a cancer diagnosis. You will learn during my experience what natural treatments helped me get through treatment. Learn how to find yourself by seeking the one that created you. This book will help you unleash the power within to reset and heal. Cancer Won't Stop Me, and it should not stop you either, is my personal experience and prayer for other survivors!

BPL: What inspired you to write your book?

MH: I wanted to provide hope, resources, and my experience of how to overcome treatment and to live and share my story.

BPL: Who is your favorite author and why?

MH: Bishop TD Jakes. He is an amazing man of God, and I love the way he tells stories.

BPL: What do you hope readers get out of your book?

MH: I hope they find peace, community, and hope. I hope they walk away with the steps to advocate for their own health and wellness while navigating through the healthcare system.

BPL: Any advice you would give for new authors or those desiring to become an author?

MH: Yes. Everyone has a story to tell. You can begin with one page at a time. You can write about whatever your heart desires. If you believe you can, you can.
