Sophia Hansen's unique outlook on life created Water's Break, a book about an amphibian-inhabited water-covered planet that is invaded by a technologically advanced race. What to know what happens next?

Ask Hansen in person at the Local Authors Expo at the Central Library this Saturday, November 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

BPL: Please introduce yourself and tell us about your book.

SH: My name is Sophia Hansen. My book Water's Break is about an amphibian-inhabited water-covered planet that is invaded and terraformed by a technologically advanced race.

BPL: What inspired you to write your book?

SH: My what-ifs then to look at life from the perspective of the "other."

BPL: Who is your favorite author and why?

SH: Anne McCaffrey was one of the first authors to capture my imagination and take the fantasy into science fiction.

BPL: What do you hope readers get out of your book?

SH: Though we are often trapped by forces beyond our control, we are more often held captive by fear. Recognizing this is the first step toward freedom.

BPL: Any advice you would give for new authors or those desiring to become an author?

SH: Find community that encourages you where you are and challenges you to take the next steps.
