Celebrate Father's Day at the Birmingham Public Library

Two Free Events at Avondale & Inglenook Honor Fathers Through Food, Fellowship & Family Fun

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mother's Day often gets much of the attention, but this week the Birmingham Public Library (BPL)  is making sure fathers are celebrated, too.

Whether you're looking to enjoy a hearty biscuits-and-gravy brunch with other dads or spend quality time with your children while meeting fellow fathers, BPL's Avondale Regional Library and Inglenook Library are hosting two free events that recognize the important role fathers play in their families and communities.

In addition, West End Branch Library (located at 1348 Tuscaloosa Ave. SW) is giving out Father's Day bracelets to dads- while supplies last - during library hours between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Branch Manager Lynn Hutchins said.

👨‍👧‍👦 Birmingham Dad Meetup

Saturday, June 20 | 10 a.m.
Avondale Regional Branch Library
4300 Fifth Ave. South, Birmingham, AL 35222

Calling all dads and your little ones! Join the Birmingham Dad Meetup for a morning of family fun, conversation and community at Avondale Regional Library.

The monthly gathering was launched this spring by Marc Pierre, who wanted to connect with other fathers after welcoming his first child, Myles, less than a year ago. What started as a simple idea has quickly grown into a thriving community, with nearly 20 fathers attending the May meetup, all through word-of-mouth, the group's Facebook page and Pierre's dad-focused newsletter.

The meetup gives fathers an opportunity to build friendships, share parenting experiences and create lasting memories with their children in a welcoming environment.

To learn more, follow Birmingham Dad Meetup on Facebook, visit the Avondale Regional Library Facebook page or subscribe to the Birmingham Dad Meetup e-newsletter.

Celebrating Fatherhood Together

From sharing biscuits and coffee to building friendships with fellow dads, Birmingham Public Library is proud to offer spaces where fathers can connect with one another and with their children.

Both events are free and open to the public. Fathers, grandfathers and father figures are encouraged to attend and celebrate the special role they play in the lives of Birmingham families.
