To Kill A Mockingbird Star Mary Badham Visiting Springville Road Regional Branch Library, November 15

Mark your calendars! Join us to discuss To Kill a Mockingbird with special guest, Mary Badham, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Springville Road Regional Branch Library.

At the age of 10, Ms. Badham was chosen for the role of "Scout" for the feature film To Kill a Mockingbird, starring Gregory Peck (Atticus Finch), and earned an Oscar nomination for her performance. At the time, she was the youngest person ever nominated for a supporting role. Since then, she has promoted the book and film's message about social injustice across the U.S. (including for the National Endowment of the Arts and two White House appearances).

Our discussion will cover all things To Kill a Mockingbird (book, play, and movie), so save the date and revisit this classic work. You can attend in person at the Springville Road Library or online. Register only if you plan to attend virtually; registration closes on Monday, November 13, 2023.

This special program is made possible through a partnership with the American Theatre Guild. The Broadway play, To Kill a Mockingbird, will be coming to the BJCC Concert Hall on Tuesday, November 14, through Sunday, November 19, 2023, and the American Theatre Guild is providing limited bookmarks with a QR code offer for discounted play tickets to Birmingham Public Library's patrons. Bookmarks with the QR code discount are available at Springville Road Library, Avondale Regional Branch Library, Southside Branch Library, and Central Library.

For more information about the program, contact the Springville Road Library at 205-226-4083.
