Kick Off Magic City Classic Week Networking October 24 at BPL's Classic Cocktails

Don't miss the Birmingham Public Library's 2nd Annual Classic Cocktails, set for 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Central Library downtown next Tuesday, October 24. Kick off your 2023 Magic City Classic week by making new friends and reconnecting with alumni from Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University.

BPL's Classic Cocktails kickoff party promises to be an evening to remember! The event features a taco/nacho bar and other treats, a cigar lounge, fabulous specialty drinks, and the popular 360 photo booth. Get your dancing shoes ready for music spun by DJ Chris Coleman of V-94.9 FM. Classic Cocktails is in part sponsored by Petway, French & Ford, LLP. Tickets are $40 apiece on Eventbrite

Black football classics are the epicenter where sports, HBCU culture and Black history converge. They are far bigger than the game. In Birmingham alone, the Magic City Classic has an annual economic impact of $23 million.

When it comes to networking and connection opportunities, nothing in Birmingham matches Magic City Classic week in size. Daily events are held across the city—from parties to concerts, tailgating, parades—and of course the halftime Battle of the Bands between the Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the Alabama State Marching Hornets.

HBCU football classics are a time for reunion in the Black community. The Magic City Classic has become the biggest networking event for African-Americans in Alabama, drawing as many tailgaters outside as the 67,532 fans that packed Legion Field last year, the biggest crowd of any HBCU classic in the nation.

BPL is excited to provide a Classic Week networking opportunity. By attending Classic Cocktails, guests will have the opportunity to network with our event sponsors: Petway, French & Ford; Kirk Drennan PC; Brownstone Healthcare; The Caring Foundation of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama; Spire; Studio 2nd and Magic City Media—plus elected officials and other attendees.

Make plans now to join the fun at the Birmingham Public Library's Classic Cocktails on Tuesday, October 24.
