Sunday's Author Talk at Avondale Library on New Harper Lee Book Postponed

This Sunday's Harper Lee talk with author Wayne Flynt is being postponed.

Due to unexpected development, the Birmingham Public Library is having to postpone this Sunday's author talk at Avondale Regional Library about a new book on Harper Lee.

Historian Wayne Flynt was to discuss his new book, Afternoons with Harper Lee, and to hold a book signing courtesy of Thank You Books.

The book recounts conversations that the author, Flynt, and his wife had over 64 visits with Lee in an assisted living facility. Lee and the Flynts share their love of literature, especially the novelist Jane Austin, and a fascination with Alabama history and their families' places in that history.

Afternoons with Harper Lee is part biography and part memoir of a friendship. Harper Lee was not a recluse or a misanthrope. But she was intensely private and uncomfortable with her fame. Wayne Flynt shares his experiences and insights on one of America's most beloved authors.

Stay tuned soon for more details. For more information on the program, contact Jim Baggett at 205-266-3631 or jim.baggett@cobpl.org.
